Working to Make Kona Soil Healthy

Jeff Knowles has been in land conservation for over 40 years!  His effort to help make Kona's soil healthy are captured here on an interview about how we can all help out to make the soil healthy.

Kealakekua Mountain Reserve partnered with Dr. Emily Uluwehi Senegal-Thyroff to learn more about how ʻiliahi grows and how it relates to other native plants. ʻIliahi has a unique relationship with other plants in that it directly connects its roots to the roots of other plants for resource transfer.
