Kumu Kuʻuleiaupuni's papa 1 is focusing on ʻaʻaliʻi and koa this school year.  Their huakaʻi was a culminating activity to plant their seedlings on the ʻāina.

Papa ʻEhā a Kumu Kaleo a me ka papa ʻElima a Kumu Helemano: 12/10 & 12/14/2021

Kumu Kaleo and Kumu Helemano are teaching their students about the various wao (realms) of the uplands.  Papa 4 is focusing on koa and the wao nahele while Papa 5 is focusing on māmane and the wao akua.

Kumu Hōkūlani is taking her CTE Plants Systems Class to the Kealakekua Forest Nursery to learn about koa and ʻiliahi.  They were able to help collect seeds, scarify seeds, and plant koa and ʻiliahi.

Papa ʻEkahi a Kumu Kuʻuleiaupuni: 11/8/21

Kumu Kuʻuleiaupuni is doing a native Hawaiian plant unit with her first grade class.  She introduced the keiki to ʻaʻaliʻi and koa, and the keiki will plant the seeds in temporary pots at the school.  The seedlings will then be transplanted to Kealakekua Mountain Reserve to be a part of the future forest!

ʻEhunui's 4th and 5th grades

Lā ʻOhana: 6/5/21

The haumāna in papa 4 and papa 5 were all given koa seeds to plant in March 2021.  They were then able to plant their homegrown seedlings at Kealakekua Mountain Reserve on June 5, 2021.
